sometimes you’re just in the right place at the right time. back in january we just so happened to be at the lovesick expo in brooklyn at the music hall of williamsburg. at the very same time, darren + marrisa just so happened to be at the lovesick expo in brooklyn at the music hall of williamsburg. you don’t say? fate? yup.

they say that rain on your wedding day is good luck. if that’s true – darren + marissa have enough luck bottled up to last a lifetime. it rained from 9am to midnight. but they had the most gorgeous plan b. they were married in a greenhouse at the deseversky mansion with zillions of little luck drops pinging off the glass in perfect harmony. it was so romantic.

and when it came time for the portraits they were troopers. lots of couples (understandably) would’ve been like – are you crazy lady? we aren’t going out in that ! nope. they grabbed an umbrella and walked right into it.

the green of the gardens surrounding the mansion burst under the heavy cloud cover. and it was like the rest of the world faded away, it was just darren + marissa. for me, that’s what it’s all about.

you guys are such an incredible couple. thank you for showing us how to let go and enjoy every minute together !

( and as it turns out, the night of your wedding, zak asked my sisters’ permission to marry me. so you are forever a part of our story, too. )

katie + barry met in a garage – this exact garage – at her graduation party seve(ral)n years ago. (whatever, who’s counting) and i was there.

two tours of duty, a doctorate, a botched airport pickup, a move to austin on a whim, and a puppy named mac later, katie + barry got married. and i was there.

we are so lucky to have both of you in our lives. we love you so hard.
